Q: How can I find out about grant opportunities?
A: Grant alerts are sent out regularly from the Research Administration Office. Faculty also have access to a couple of searchable research opportunities databases. Submissions targeting ‘Limited’ grant opportunities (those that mandate a limited number of applications from the university) are coordinated through the Associate Dean of Research and the VPR’s office.
Q: Can I discuss a project idea with somebody to explore grant potential?
A: Of course. You could discuss this with a mentor, your supervisor or the chair of your department or the Director of Sponsored Research Development at the College. If you need help in figuring out where to start, please contact Rana Ganguly.
Q: Are there searchable research opportunities databases that the UVA or the College have access to?
A: UVA subscribes to two such databases: Pivot and GrantForward. Training on system navigation navigate can be organized through the UVA Library or the VPR’s office.
Q: Who could support us for coordinating large grant (> $2 million) project applications?
A: Please reach out to Rana Ganguly who can connect with you the VPR’s office. The latter have a team dedicated for this purpose. Requests must involve large, cross-disciplinary proposals and should be made several months prior to deadline.
